Perfum Pagoda – Mai Chau Village & Ba Be Lake

Program 1 : Perfume Pagoda
(Trip of 1 day from Hanoi)

HA NOI- PERFUME PAGODE- HA NOI
The Perfume Pagoda is one of the highlights of the Hanoi area and one of the most important religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam. Every spring, after the Vietnamese New Year, thousands of Vietnamese pilgrims come here to pray for all the health and prosperity they need to get them through the year. The pagoda itself is situated in a huge cave built into limestone cliffs and can only be reached by boat as there are no roads. You glide along scenic waterways and walk up steep mountain paths, visiting the pagodas and temples built in this area over the centuries.

07H30 am. Depart for the Perfume Pagoda- The Buddhism holy land. On arrival take a rowing boat along Yen stream, stop over at Trinh Temple. From the landing, walk up to the Perfume Pagoda, which is located inside Huong Tich grotto (you can choose: going by cable car or on foot). Walk back for lunch.
Afternoon: Visit the Thien Tru Pagoda before a boat ride back to the wharf. Return to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi at 06H30 pm. End of service.

Program 2 : Mai Chau Village
(Trip of 2 days & 1 night from Hanoi)

Brief itinerary:

Day 1: Hanoi-Mai Chau. Overnight in homestay
Day 2: Mai Chau-Hanoi

Day 1: HA NOI- MAI CHAU (140km/ 3h by road)

Depart for Mai Chau through beautiful mountain landscapes planted with tea. Short stop at Muong Bo Cho village. Continue to Mai Chau. Finally leave the flat lands of the Delta for the mountainous regions. The rice terraces first appear lined with banana groves. The habitat is also radically changing. The countryside is dotted with cottages, among which Muong houses can be recognized by their sloping roofs and stilts. Arrive in the serene Mai Chau valley around noon.  It is a beautiful jigsaw of rice fields cultivated by the White Thai, including hamlets scattered around the village. Visit two villages Lac and Van, where the expert fingers of White Thai women make all kinds of tapestries. They are based on a variety of wild silks. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the inhabitants’ houses. Evening dance show with Khène and abundance of rice wine.

Day 2: MAI CHAU- HA NOI (140km/ 3h by road)
After breakfast at the inhabitants’ houses, departure by bike to visit Mai Chau market & ZDao Villages... Return to Hanoi. Lunch en route. Arrive in Hanoi. End of service.

Program 3 : The natural Ba Be lake
(Trip of 2 days & 1 night in Hanoi)

Brief itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi-Cho Ra-Ba Be
Day 2: Ba Be-Hanoi

Day 1: HA NOI - CHO RA - BA BE (250km/ 6h by road)

Departure for Ba Be, passing through the mountainous region of Tonkin. There are superb landscapes with terraced rice fields and bamboo paddle wheels on both river banks. Have lunch at local restaurant. Upon arrival at Cho Ra, take a boat on Nang river that meanders along a bucolic landscape before entering the steep chalky cliffs whose hillsides are characterised by small wild gardens, hanging lianas and long roots reaching deep into the earth.
Sometimes, the jungle, the silver marbled trunks and the old trees that twist above the river swallow the earthy mounds. From another view, it is a spectacle of fishing. The shrimp cages stake out the course of the river. Then we enter Puong Cave. The river flowing through the cave brings us to a wonderful site to enjoy the stalactites by foot. We continue going by boat to Pac Ngoi, a village of the Tay ethnic group situated not far from the lake on the hillside. The Tay live on fishing and rice and corn cultivation. Their stilt houses with thatched roofs are dispersed in the surrounding landscape. Dinner and overnight at inhabitants’ house.

Day 2: BA BE – HA NOI (250km/ 6h by road)
We take a boat ride in the fairy-like ambience of Ba Be lake, “the lake of three seas” that stretches on for 9 km with a width from 100 to 1800m and depth of 145 m. It is located at the foot of 3 valleys that join together in a bow circle. Ba Be is not only a site for the imagination, but also for nature lovers. Over forty species of mammals live there, as well as hundreds of species of birds and butterflies. You can visit Dau Dang cascade and a village of the Dao ethnic group. Have lunch at local reataurant, then return to Ha Noi. End of service.

Program 4 : The natural Ba Be lake & its surrounding villages

Day 1: HA NOI - CHO RA - BA BE (250km/ 6h by road)
Departure for Ba Be, passing through the mountainous region of Tonkin. There are superb landscapes with the rice fields in terrace, the paddle wheels in bamboo on the two sides of the river. Have lunch at local restaurant. Upon arrival at Cho Ra, take a boat on Nang river that slips in a cultivated country before penetrating in a landscape of chalky cliffs whose flank are characterised by small wild gardens, where hang the lianas and its long roots in quest of earth. Sometimes, the jungle, the purple canes, the silver spindly marbled trunks and the old trees bending their twist above the river swallow some earthy mounds. In the other view, it is the spectacle of fishing. The lobster pots stake out the course of river, some men throw the sparrow hawk, and others hit the rocky banks to dislodge some of lower-case shrimps. Then we enter into the Puong Cave. The river flows, making up a wonderful site where you can enjoy the stalactites on foot of this pothole. We continue going by boat to Pac Ngoi- a village of Tay ethnic situated no far from the lake on the flank of hills. The Tay lives on fishing, rice and corn cultivation. Their stilt houses with the thatched roofs disperse in the austere surrounding landscapes. Have dinner and overnight at the inhabitant.

Day 2: BA BE
After breakfast, we first take a 2-hour walk to the Lung Quang villages of the Tay, Keo Mo, and Dao people. You can enjoy a beautiful mountain landscapes with rice terraces, stilt houses, buffaloes, ducks, etc.  We continue to walk for 2 hours on a small trail to visit other villages in Lom Ban and Ban Qua. Having a picnic in such a peaceful environment is wonderful. Then we walk 2 more hours through the Ban Chay Lung Coc villages to arrive at the Pac Ngoi village. Dinner and overnight at inhabitants’ house.

Day 3: BA BE – HA NOI (250km/ 6h by road)
We take a boat in the fairy decor of Ba Be lake; “the lake of three seas” that stretches on 9 km long and from 100 to 1800 m large, at altitude of 145 m. It is located at the outlet of 3 valleys that join together in bow of circle. Ba Be is not only a site for the imaginative, but also for the nature lovers. About over forty pieces of mammal live there, as well as hundred pieces of bird and butterflies. You can visit Dau Dang cascade, a village of the Dao ethnic. Have lunch at local reataurant, then return to Ha Noi. End of service.
